Koh Tao ferries link the Thai Gulf and mainland

Koh Tao lies in the Thai Gulf around 90 minutes by high speed ferry from Chumphon or four hours from Surat Thani (via Koh Samui and Koh Phangan). You can choose between high speed passenger boats (Songserm, Seatran, Lomprayah) or larger car ferries. Ferries take one hour 15 mins to reach Koh Phangan’s Thongsala Pier and another half-an-hour onwards to Koh Samui’s Na Thon pier.

There is also an overnight boat which leaves from Bandon Pier in Surat Thani town at 23:00 each night and arrives at Koh Tao at 08:00. The reverse journey departs Mae Haad pier at 20:30 arriving in Surat Thani at 04:00. The night boat from Chumphon leaves at 23:00 and midnight arriving at Koh Tao at 05:00 and 06:00 respectively. The return journey departs Mae Haad at 20:00 and 23:00 taking around six hours and costing 500 baht each way.

The nightboat leaves from Bandon Pier in Surat Thani while Seatrain, Lomprayah Catamaran and Raja Ferry use Donsak Pier. Songserm uses Thathong Pier.
